In 2013 the Orange County Library System decided to begin moving their email newsletters to a new email marketing platform. There were three monthly newsletters with an estimated 8,000 subscribers and interest in starting new email outreach programs.
I coordinated the selection and purchase of a MailChimp subscription. I organized and oversaw the migration of the company's established email newsletters to MailChimp from an older, less feature rich platform. I redesigned the migrated newsletter templates with a focus on clean, responsive emails. I trained email authors on MailChimp usage and best practices for email marketing, including legal and mobile considerations. I also migrated existing subscribers and strategized the timeline and execution of the project.
Beyond migrating already established email newsletters, I coordinated the launch of new newsletters with staff from various departments within the organization. This included designing new custom templates, training the new email authors, and advising on the process of acquiring subscribers and the timeline for sending the newsletters.
For two years I was the sole support contact for any MailChimp related issues or questions internally. As the organization started to add more newsletter offerings, I trained additional team members in order to increase our support levels for staff using MailChimp.
